SP MLA From Muzaffarnagar Caught Dancing With Bar Girl, Proves UP Govt. Is Actually Better For Tabloid Business

Posted: 05 Feb 2014 08:17 PM PST

Chitranjan Swaroop, an MLA of Samajwadi Party from Muzaffarnagar was spotted dancing with a bar girl at the wedding ceremony of a local SP leader. SP government was recently bashed for the filthy display of opulence at Saifai Mahotsav when riot victims of Muzaffarnagar were struggling to survive in relief camps.

The shamelessness of this MLA — who is clearly shown in the video showering money on rented dancer – displays that current UP government is seriously messed up. Oh, wait! Why messed up? Afterall he is following the footsteps of his party boss, the man who hurled several crores of rupees on Bollywood stars to see them shaking their booties.

7 ‘Simply Majestic’ Songs Sung By Jagjit Singh And Chitra Singh Together

Posted: 05 Feb 2014 05:30 PM PST

To make a list of just 7 memorable duets of Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh is like collecting a handful of stars from the mighty Milky Way. Ghazals from this invincible pair have touched the souls of millions of lesser mortals. The void that has been created after Jagjit Singh's demise can never be filled by any other singer.

We are lucky to have been born in the same era as his, to be witness to this Gods favorite child. Here is a list of some of the most magical duets sung by the pair.

7. Duniya Jise Kehte Hain

This ghazal written by Jagjitji’s favourite lyrcist Nida Fazli can transform anybody to a different zone, where you need nobody and can just reminiscence in your own thoughts. Mil jaaye to mitti hain, kho jaaye to Sona hain, is so relevant in today's time, where we have set such high targets for us that have made our lives a cat race. The most unique trait of his singing was the selection of lyrics, that were always soul rendering.

6. Tum Ko Dekha To Yeh Khayal Aaya

You will not find a Jagjit fan who has not heard this ghazal. A favorite amongst those who have been unlucky in love, it has the ideal lyrics to set nostalgia in any setting. The ghazal was also featured in the movie Saath Saath, featuring Deepti Naval and Farooq Sheikh. Jagjitji was instrumental in making ghazal listening easy for the common masses, who earlier assumed that it was a thing for the super literates.

5. Babul Mora Naihar Chhooto Jaye

This ghazal is based on Raag Bhairavi and earlier versions have been sung by music stalwarts like Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and Kundan Lal Saigal. Jagjit and Chitra sang their version for the movie Avishkaar (1973), music by Kanu Roy. The soulful and heart wrenching voice of Chitra aptly conveyed the pain a daughter feels when she is leaving her father's house after her wedding.

4. Koi Samjhega Kya Raaz-E-Gulshan

This beautiful renderation of their personal loss, of losing their young son, has touched a chord in the hearts of many. Part of the album "Someone Somewhere," this was the last time that we heard Chitra Singh, perform for the masses. She chose to live with her grief after this. Each and every ghazal of the master, subtly hints at the realities of life, but masks it with his honey dripping voice.

3. Us Mod Se Shuru Karen Fir Ye Zindagi

This ghazal is in a lighter vein compared to others and spreads cheer and optimism every time one hears it. Lekar chale the hum jinhe jannat ke khwab the, inspires one to look forward to the future and not be stuck in the past. The music is upbeat and you do not get bored of listening to it ever.

2. Dil-E-Nadaan Tujhe Hua Kya Hai

Humko unse waha ki hain umeed, jo nahi jante wafa kya hain..Need I say more? This ghazal portrays the pain a  lover feels  when his love has met fallen fate. His hopes have been crushed and he tries to convince his broken heart to get over it. Like many other ghazals by Jagjit and Chitra, this one also sets the mood for a peaceful evening with close friends or loved ones.

1. Bahut Pehle Se Un Qadmon Ki

This ghazal was part of the album a Night in Bombay, by Jagjit Singh and Chitra Singh. To feel imperfect and incomplete without your loved one, or to love him like the essential essence of your existence was the main core of this special number. They have traveleld worldwide and given memorable live concerts, that have become part of priceless memories of many. His unique personality, charm and the ability to involve the audience, has made him immortal, amongst music lovers.

Why You May Want To Really Consider A Rickshaw Tour In Delhi

Posted:

No matter how much developed the modern transport system has become—if you want to savor the true taste of India, you simple have to tour around the country in Indian means of transport. This works especially well in old cities like Varanasi, Kolkata, Allahabad, and of course Delhi.

You might have gone around Delhi numerous times, but have you wondered around the place in good ol' rickshaws? Well, here are a few reasons why you must hop on to rickshaws to savor the charm of the place—

5. Chuck off the Heat

Delhi experiences extremes of temperature—either it's too hot or too cold; and, for most of the Indians, no matter how hot the weather is, Delhi is to be toured only during the summers. Actually the idea isn't bad—no biting cold, no dense fog till noon—only you have to know the right tit-bit in keeping yourself cool. Throw a light and bright dress, a pair of sandals and hop on to one of the rickshaws—and you're good to go. Well, you might ask why rickshaws over AC cars—well, when you hop off, you won't experience any temperature change and hence, will be spared of all the stupid side-effects!

Why You May Want To Really Consider A Rickshaw Tour In Delhi

4. Scrap of Unnecessary Expenses

Delhi, as you know, is one of the costliest cities around—a tour around the city in AC cars is surely going to burn wholes in your pocket. Yes, you may consider going around in buses (contracted tours) but that isn't an option for the wanderers. Going around in rickshaw comes at much cheaper rates than the other modes of transportation and in cities like Delhi, an auto rickshaw can travel around just everywhere (unlike Kolkata, where it cannot convey on the important main roads). And, a cut in the cost while traveling around a new city is always welcome, since it gives you much more opportunities to splurge on in other areas—like, eating and well, shopping; after all, not many of us are unaware of the great street shopping hubs that the city has to offer!

Why You May Want To Really Consider A Rickshaw Tour In Delhi

3. Traveling Around Old Delhi is Traveling in Rickshaws

Your tour around Delhi is incomplete without traveling around the gullies of Old Delhi. And, if you know at least something about the latter, then you must be knowing about the famous, lanes which houses some of the fabulous shops and restaurants (like, the famous Karim's restaurant). However, there are only two ways of reaching there—first, by foot and the next by rickshaws. Now the lanes are so creepy and dense, that anyone traveling for the first time, is bound to get lost—so, our recommendation would be to go around this place in rickshaws.

Why You May Want To Really Consider A Rickshaw Tour In Delhi

2. Rickshaw Drivers cum Guides

While traveling around the city, you'll get guides at specific historical monuments—and if you want to have a personal guide for the whole day, it is surely going to cost you a Bomb. But, you needn't worry any more—hop on to a rickshaw and hit it off friendly with the rickshaw driver and you just had the best guide ever. Now, these drivers may not be educated and polished, but they surely know a lot many local stuff about the city, its history and the current happenings (read: gossips) which even the polished guides won't know. Besides, if you're lucky then they might just take you to one of the brilliant shops or restaurants of the city which are quite in accessible to the tourists due to their creepy locations.

Why You May Want To Really Consider A Rickshaw Tour In Delhi

1. Traffic? Don't worry, we're in safe hands!

Another important reason why one should hop on to a rickshaw is Delhi's (in) famous traffic. Sometimes, traveling even one kilometer in a motor vehicle might take you more than an hour! However, with rickshaws, the condition betters, if only a bit. The advantage of going around in a rickshaw is that it can overtake with ease and can adjust itself in teeny weeny lanes which even Nano won't be able to fit in. Besides, the rickshaw drivers know all the narrow short cuts that Delhi houses! It's kinda weird to know such a huge city by heart—but they do!

Sochi Is Trending For A Wrong Reason. No, It Is Not Winter Olympics

Posted: 05 Feb 2014 12:29 AM PST

Reporters from around the world, who have arrived in Sochi for the 2014 Winter Olympics, have described the appalling hotel conditions, with only six of nine media hotels ready for guests.

The disarray seems to contradict repeated promises from both Russian and Olympic officials that Sochi is ready for the games, despite terrorist threats, unfinished construction and concerns over human rights abuses in the country.

The journalists have taken to Twitter to express their numerous abysmal experiences at the hotels in Sochi, saying that the many of the hotels are still under construction, and that running water is not drinkable.

Other experiences include broken lifts, broken water pipes, no reception, no hot water, unfiltered water, broken hotel furniture and open manholes, and a German photographer revealed that his hotel still had stray dogs and construction workers wandering in and out of rooms.

Meanwhile, president of Sochi’s Olympic organising committee Dmitry Chernyshenko told a journalist from CNN on Twitter to ”look at the mountains” after the journalist complained that only one of the network’s 11 requested rooms was ready for them.

The report mentioned that the Games have also run way over budget – to a record 51 billion dollars, although International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach has denied that, insisting that many concerns, including those over safety and construction, are overblown.

In the end, it is the face of Putin that greets all.
