Top 10 Sexiest Sixes by Sachin Tendulkar

Posted: 10 Jul 2013 09:14 PM PDT

The legend of Indian cricket or the 'Little Master' as he is popularly known as, Sachin Tendulkar has dominated the international cricket for a long time with his commanding stroke play and bullet-shots. The most absorbing aspects of his batting are his picture perfect straight drives and lofty shots which help him in fetching runs with lightening speed. The man who single-handedly demolished many attacks in his lifetime has some of the best hit sixes to his credit. Scroll down to know about top 10 sexiest sixes by the cricketing legend.

10. Four sixers of Abdul Qadir:

The one-day between India and Pakistan is looked upon as very special for the simple reason that it announced the arrival of the 'little maestro' in the international arena. The innings that he played under pressure in Peshawar was phenomenon. India were chasing 157 in the  rain-hit match, when the 16 year old lad named Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar scored a quickfire 18 ball 53  with four sixes in a single over of the legendary Pakistani leg spinner Abdul Qadir. The one where he stepped out of the crease (a long way) is termed the most special one in the lot.

9. Olonga bashing:

It was the finals of the Sharjah Cup in 1998 when Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly bulldozed the Zimbabwean attack led by Henry Olonga. Sachin in particular, was in a grueling mood and smashed Olonga for six huge sixes. The one over his head of a slower delivery was the best one and struck the sight screen to make a hole into it. Never before, the master blaster was seen in such a ruthless mood.

8. Six of McGrath:

It was in the Champions Trophy in Nairobi during a match between Australia and India that Sachin Tendulkar went on a rampage right from the start. Very rarely it has been observed, someone completely taking hold of the great fast bowler (Glen McGrath). The first time the Indian great stepped out of crease he survived a close chance when the ball took the outer edge of the bat to land over the boundary ropes. But in the second chance, he comprehensively hit him straight over his head out of the park to establish an upper hand in the battle.

7. Warnie going for plenty:

It was the 3 match test series (in 1997-98) which India finally won by 2-1 where Sachin took over greatest leggie who ever played the gentleman's game, with complete disdain. He smashed plenty of sixes in each and every innings of his against him, except for the initial one in Chennai. It was in the innings of 177 where he hit cross legged sixes off Shane Warne.

6. Paul Strang stung badly:

In the same match where Henry Olonga suffered one of the heaviest beatings in his life time, an offie named Paul Strang too tasted the same dose when he was hit for countless sixes on a pitch that offered nothing for the spinners. The best shot was the one where Sachin used his feet to hit the ball over the top that pitched outside leg stump.

5. Caddick out of the park:

The much talked about encounter between India and England in the World Cup match of 2003 was a treat for Tendulkar fans. The six that the master batsman smashed of the lanky English fast bowler Andrew Caddick   not only fetched him half-century but also signaled to the world that the vibrant Tendulkar is still intact and capable to strike a few more and much farther  in the time to come. The footwork used by him in the airborne pull shot was absolutely classical.

4. Eddo Brandes gone for a straight hit:

It was a match in the 1996-96 tri series between South Africa, Zimbabwe and India that is still remembered for the quality of cricketing shots from the legendary batsman. The one particular match where India needed to beat Zimbabwe to enter finals in order to play South Africa is another of the interesting matches India has ever played. During the match, Sachin hit fast bowler Eddo Brandes with a straight bat over his head for a six. It was after this particular straight batted lofted drive that this shot came into prominence among the cricketers globally.

3. Kasprowiz encounter in 1998 at Sharjah:

The sandstorm hit match that became popular for the innings decorated with countless sixes from Sachin Tendulkar is also known for the way Australian seamer Michael Kasprowiz was thrashed for runs. Particularly the shot where Sachin pulled him over the long on boundary is considered very special by the cricket lovers.

2. Steve Waugh in the famous Sharjah encounter:

India were chasing 284 from Australia but more importantly required to score 254 to beat New Zealand on the run rate basis to enter , so as to enter the finals of the tournament. The match saw some excitingly glorious moments including Sachin's 143 that included some lusty blows over the boundary rope including one six where he ferociously hit part-timer Steve Waugh over his head with a straight bat.

1. The 'pointer' of Shoaib:

Something that is often referred to as the 'shot of the century', it was in the tense encounter between arch rivals India and Pakistan that the 'God of Cricket' showcased an absolutely new kind of stroke play to the rest of the world. It was a mere touch of the fast delivery by the 'Rawalpindi Express' Shoaib Akhtar that carried the ball over the point boundary for six runs. The shot is still considered as the most watched cricket moment on YouTube till date.
