Like every year, 2014 will be full of many exciting games that have been awaited for a very long time by their lovers. With the undoubted popularity of games like Grand Theft Auto 5, The Last of Us, etc. gamers have higher expectations from those that will be launched in the New Year. Many well known and established gaming franchises like Halo, Diablo and Metal Gear are coming up with newer and better versions of games in order to strengthen their stand in the market. Fans are going bananas to get their hands on these sequels and experience that enchanting journey that their storylines have to offer. Let's have a look at the eight 2014 games that one should anxiously look forward to in this year.

1. South Park – The Stick of Truth:

After entertaining a large number of audiences on the television screen, the makers of the American animated show, South Park decided to expand its popularity to the gaming world as well. This game is based on the duties of the characters as per the show along with their voices and other features. The game will be available on Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The publishers truly hope that the game does as well as the TV show and looking forward to people's reviews after its release in March 2014.

2. Watch Dogs:

This game is entirely based on action and adventure. It features a guy who is a skilled hacker within the fictionalized version of Chicago, who is also capable of hacking into various security systems and destroying other such devices. It was scheduled to be released in 2013 but was then pushed to somewhere in the first quarter of 2014 due to concerns related to quality and functioning. The game will be available in Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Fans and critics sincerely hope that the caused delay was worth waiting for.

3. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare:

This is a third person shooter and tower defense game based on Planets Vs Zombies. The exciting factor about this game is that it is a multiplayer game and the players may control both the zombies as well as the plants. This thrilling game is going to be released in February 2014. The sad news for PlayStation owners is that it will be available only for Windows, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. The publishers are probably trying to follow the concept of less supply and more demand in this situation. Let's hope that their strategy turns out t be successful.

4. Thief:

As the title of this video game correctly indicates, it was based on stealing and is an action packed game, which is full of a lot of adventure. It is the fourth game of the Stealth series and was initially announced under the working title of Thief 4 in the year 2009. The game will be released in February 2014 and will be available on Windows, PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

5. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes:

This video game is purely based on action and adventure. It will be the tenth main entry in the Metal Gear series and will establish as the first half of the Metal Gear Solid V. This game shall be released in March 2014 and will be available in PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Fans are literally drooling to get their hands on this one.

6. Diablo lll: Reaper of Souls:

This game is an expansion pack for the action role-playing video game. Makers say that it will be a game full of thrill and excitement and is worth the wait. Fans are looking forward to two new characters: The Crusader and The Mystic. Other features of this expansion pack include a new Act V, new item crafting abilities, level cap of 70 and many more. The game will be available in Windows and PlayStation 4 console and is trying to be developed for OS X as well. The release date for this one is March 2014.

7. Destiny:

Although this game is going to be released much later than the others in this list, its features seem to be very promising. The people will have to wait till the second half of 2014 release date for Destiny is in September. It is an action, role-playing and first shooter game and is full of adventures at each step. It is based on a mythic science setting and will also be launching a beta version in the summer following its release. The game will be available on PlayStation 3 and 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

8. Dark Souls ll:

The top one on this list of various video games would be Dark Souls ll. It's an action role-playing open world video game that is full of surprises and twists at each level. With the huge popularity of Dark Souls, fans have a lot of high expectations from this sequel as well. The game is set to offer an enthralling experience and people are anxious to look at the surprises the development team will be offering in this sequel of the hit franchisee. It will be released in March 2014 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
