A Homeless Dog Living In A Trash Pile Gets Rescued, And Then Does Something Amazing!

Posted: 30 Jan 2014 07:07 PM PST

One of the most heartwarming and moving video of the extraordinary rescue, recovery and resilience of a homeless and abandoned dog, who was unfortunately left to die in a heap of trash, until spotted by Eldad Hagar.

It was when Eldad Hagar first noticed Miley, a homeless dog surviving in the piles of trash on the very outskirts of LA, that he was moved to his heart. Miley at that time was all covered with infection and mange that had left her completely lifeless and defeated. Looking at her plight, Hagar just couldn't hold himself back and without much ado carried her to the vet.

After her thorough checkup, the veterinarian Dr. Lisa Youn concluded that Miley was not only suffering from bacterial infection and mange, but malnutrition and parasites as well.

After undergoing intensive care and treatment for about two weeks, Miley started showing positive signs of improvement and her spirits started to lift. But it was only until Miley finally found her best friend Frankie (who was rescued from a sewer tunnel by Hagar and his friend), that she started displaying dramatic turns in her recovery.

This video certainly displays one of the most astonishing transformations you will ever witness. Watch out this video to observe the unmatched healing power of friendship, love and above all-second chances!

Why Indian Companies Don’t Innovate While Indians in Other Countries Do

Posted: 30 Jan 2014 09:30 AM PST

India recently ranked 66th in 'The Global Innovation Index 2013'. India was behind economies like Brazil. The apparent reason for this seems to be a lack of resources devoted to Research and Development. Indian companies are risk averse by their nature and believe in traditional models of business rather than adopting new ones. When an Indian employee represents his idea to the management, leaders display a passive response. Companies in the other countries show a warm welcome to ideas of employees and in return, reward them. This makes employee loyal to the firm and he keeps practicing ideas in hope to get more perks in the nearby future. Following are some more reasons for Indian companies missing innovation link in their product launches.

6. Indian Economy still lacks Knowledge Drive

Most developed countries stick to the concept of 'knowledge-driven economy'. Patent wars between Samsung and Apple were fought on the basis of 'ideas', which they claim to be patented themselves first. Fast jury proceedings helps to get due award/benefit for real innovators and punish violators under the patent infringement cases i.e. by imposing huge fines on offenders. Laws are very strict and updated. All these steps boost innovative and entrepreneurial spirits of an individual. The sense of protectionism against any unlawful activity helps to spur business ideas and economic growth of country.

Why Indian Companies Don't Innovate While Indians in Other Countries Do

5. Presence of Innovation Ecosystem Outside India

In order to propel ideas, an individual needs a special environment suited to his needs. This problem is addressed by establishing Innovation Ecosystems specifically focused on certain key areas and some stock markets closely designed for listing techno-driven companies. An entrepreneurial avalanche is properly unleashed only when it gets right mentoring in the early/nuance stages. Silicon Valley in California and Bengaluru in India are best examples of innovation capsules in a country.

Why Indian Companies Don't Innovate While Indians in Other Countries Do

4. Accelerator Funding Model Outside India

Foreign countries (mostly developed ones and handful of developing) have opted for funding models which provide sustainable and inclusive growth for ventures. This in turn translates to innovative production ideas and their launch. Apart from government progammes, even companies from private sphere come forward to fund new ideas. For example: Eesha Khare, an 18-year-old girl student in California created a gadget named 'Super Charger' which can quickly charge a phone in less than 20-30 seconds. This won her a prize of Rs. 3416955.89 (34 Lakhs, £33,000 British pound sterling) and an offer to join the prestigious Harvard University. Google has also approached her for her invention. These companies don't fret from teenager ideas, which could be worth millions. But is this scenario possible in India?

Why Indian Companies Don't Innovate While Indians in Other Countries Do

3. Lack of Government Support in India

Indian laws and regulations are strict, but their implementation is not. It can take from months, several years to some decades to solve an issue in judiciary. Most companies due to this reason don't want to indulge in 'Patent Wars' and thus happy in staying away from innovation. Policies in India hold an anti business sentiment, placing more and more hurdles in a company's growth. Be it the case of Vodafone, the MoEF in project clearances recently or an initiative of opening a startup.

Thinking of starting a new business in India? Think again! It can take up to 64 days and completing 13 procedures in total to have a startup, here. Government is providing too little financial support for assisting and accelerating growth of small companies in its annual budget.

Why Indian Companies Don't Innovate While Indians in Other Countries Do

2. Low-Risk operations – We only make Money on Existing Concepts

Indian medicine companies are largest contributor to UN agencies in providing medical aid. But despite that, no Indian company is focusing on research to develop a new Malaria vaccine which is a big problem in the world. Indian medicos are busy in production of traditional medicines that were discovered decades ago. Companies like Biocon, who achieved great success in R&D are not rewarded their share in accordance to the marketplace. This discourages innovation in India. It is easy and profitable business to copy, but a company finds hard to innovate in India.

Why Indian Companies Don't Innovate While Indians in Other Countries Do

1. Funding Model Entirely Based On Profits Not Innovation

The venture funding ecosystem in India is such that before investing, investors carry out detail studies on revenue stream. Investors are not interested in innovation and concerns only to ROI (return on investment), irrespective of the product.

Investors don't believe in individual's potential, but they simply ask for profits. Hence, your startup will get finance only when it will be promising handsome revenues.

No one is willing to fund ideas and take risks. Also there is an inherent element of high risk in a startup because you can end up without finding some seed investors, which are

The words 'disabled', 'differently abled', 'physically challenged' etc. direct our attention towards people who lack the physical ability to be able to do things in some way or the other. These people usually generate a sense of sympathy, awe and pity in the hearts of other people. However, it is not necessary that they need any of that. A 360-page book called Codex Seraphinianus remains a mystery to linguists who have not yet been able to understand even a single alphabet used in it. The work of Luigi Serafini, a noted Italian artist and industrial designer, the book contains pages upon pages of hand drawn illustrations, most of them surreal and abstract, quite like the works of Salvador Dali. It gives the impression of an encyclopaedia and was first published in 1981. Serafini took 30 months to start and complete the Codex during 1976 and 1978. He calls it 'automatic writing' – a style he says children use to imagine what they see in books they cannot yet read.
