Posted: 13 Nov 2013 11:14 PM PST Nothing can be simple and plain in India. From Gods, virginity, cricket, movies, cow, private tuitions, to chewing paan, you will find every simple thing is highly overrated or underrated in India too often for comfort. This is a country where Rakhi Sawant, Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Mahajan have swayamvars on Television and there are people with real life who spend time watching them. When we tend to overlook achievements of people like Shristi Tiwari, a blind girl, who topped the humanities group with 481 marks and stood 4th in the overall provisional merit list of class XII MPBSE, we can go crazy over cricket players and Bollywood stars who are worshipped as Gods. Compiling a list of 6 highly is overrated Indians is tough because the list is inexhaustible as there are countless Indians who vie for the honor. 6. Chetan Bhagat:It is quite weird that a writer of book, 'One Night @ the Call Center', where the characters receive a call from God, can be called the 'Youth Icon' of India. Not sticking to writing which he is not good at, Chetan Bhagat further tries to change the country by saying that India should give up Kashmir because it is highly expensive to protect the state and also talking about outsourcing our armed forces to USA. Where would he be without the publicity of '3 Idiots'? 5. Barkha Dutt:Her journalism along with is questionable regarding the coverage of 26/11 when Mumbai burned. It is wonder why the terrorists did not give her a permanent job of covering their attacks, with the exposure she gave them. It is questionable that she is considered a great reporter, and claimed to be the best in India when so many hostages' lives were put on line due to her insensitive coverage. Despite her pro-Pakistan mindset and politically biased reporting, the hype created around her is quite confusing. Isn't it? 4. Rakhi Sawant:I am not sure whether I should be writing about Rakhi Sawant here or not, since the term overrated Indians becomes quite underrated when it comes to this controversial person. We still wonder what made her famous, her questionable dancing skills, her acting which can be matched by a mannequin or her below average looks. We cannot even call her a sex bomb, due to lack of seductiveness for the vamp part. Apart from brewing controversies to stay lime light, the actress has little or no contribution given to either Bollywood or television. Unfortunately, she stays in people's mind when good actresses who silently do their part are pushed into shadows. 3. SRK:Since the day Shahrukh Khan started his acting career, he has been repeatedly doing the specific combination of his eyes and eyebrow movement in a sad scene, which sends his fans into tears. Called the 'King Khan' and 'Badshah of Bollywood', I agree Shahrukh Khan is a fine actor, but the hype made about him is beyond what he actually deserves. He has been the same person with different background and co-stars in all of his movies other than a few odd ones. The movies which did not have the same SRK failed, as his habituated fans could not tolerate change. It would be great if he could shun his mannerisms and overacting to come up with more performances like he gave in Chak De India & Swadesh. 2. Arvind Kejriwal:Arvind Kejriwal's party claims to be for the people like all other political parties of the world. So what is different about this particular politician other than the way he sidetracked Anna Hazare for personal political goals? He was responsible for wrecking the anti-corruption campaign of Anna Hazare because of his political ambitions; a damage which none of Anna's enemies could cause. Just naming a party 'Aam Aadmi Party (a party for common man) doesn’t change any of his political agenda. The man who claims to be an ‘Aam Aadmi’, plays filthy vote bank politics by recounting an anti-terrorist operation to be a fake one, in which a brave cop martyred on the line of duty. Is it something an ‘Aam Aadmi’ wants? 1. Mahatma Gandhi:There is no doubt that Mahatma Gandhi was a great man and a leader whose principles and non-violence methods can be admired, but his contribution to the freedom movement of India is highly overrated. The freedom movement was a great entity in itself which no one person can take credit for. Also not many know that in 1938 when Subhash Chandra Bose became President of Congress for 2nd term, Gandhi and his supporters conspired to make him resign from the post, which was a big dent in the freedom movement of India. WWII and the economic implications of it was one of the major reasons why the British left India. After the war it was very difficult for the British to financially maintain their military forces, in addition to containing the burgeoning freedom movements in their colonies, including India. The 5 Unforgettable Sachin Tendulkar Moments Ever Posted: 13 Nov 2013 11:08 PM PST Brain Lara described 'Sachin's' cricketing career as the greatest of all time. Don Bradman (the finest batsman ever to have played cricket) confided that 'Tendulkar' reminded him of himself. Such is the class of the man who is the most complete batsman and a god-like cricketing figure – the man whom they call Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar made his international test debut against Pakistan when he was just sixteen years old. From there, the living legend has gone on to play for more than twenty years. Tendulkar, in his illustrious career, holds almost every possible batting record in the game. Talking of his career, one cannot measure the number of enthralling moments the little master has given us, and yet we have tried here to list out the five most unforgettable Sachin Tendulkar moments ever. 5. Century at WACA in Perth:He was sixteen when he made a debut and only two years into his career, Sachin found himself on the tour to Australia. It was the 1991-92 series when India toured Australia. Though, India end up losing the series 4-0, one batsman who had left his mark was Sachin Tendulkar. He got two centuries on the tour, where every other senior batsman failed. He go 148 in Sydney, a magnificent innings. And when you think of the contrasting wickets, coming from India's low bounce pitches to Australia's bouncy tracks – making adjustments was very difficult for batsmen, but this 18 year old genius was out there to change the face of Indian cricket forever. Coming to Perth's WACA (lightning-fast pitch) no one backed the kid to deliver. Sachin, with his trademark back foot punch through the covers (shot after shot) impressed one and all. Making all possible adjustments, Tendulkar scored 114 runs at the WACA – an innings is considered as best innings ever by a foreign player in Australia. 4. Double ton in ODI:Sachin Tendulkar was 36 in 2010 and he was showing no signs of slowing down as a batsman. Coming in with the good run of form, having scored hundreds in each of his last four Test matches, Tendulkar smashed an unbeaten 200 against South Africa in Gwaliar. This was the first double hundred by any batsman in one-day international cricket. Scoring this maiden double century, Tendulkar went past previous highest score of 194 by Pakistan's Saeed Anwar and Charles Coventry of Zimbabwe. This was Tendulkar's 46th century in ODI cricket for India. Tendulkar scored these runs at breathtaking speed. He faced 147 balls to score 200, hitting 25 boundaries and three sixes. Tendulkar scored these runs at an average of 136.05 which was better than any other batsman's in the list of top 10 highest run getters in ODI. 3. 100th International Hundred:Sachin Tendulkar became the first and only cricketer to make 100 international centuries. Tendulkar reached the milestone at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka, in a match against Bangladesh on March 16, 2012. The 100thcentury, which came after a long wait, will definitely stay in our memories for ages to come. 2. Last over in 1993 Hero Cup against South Africa:Sachin Tendulkar is known for is bating, and so was he back in 1993, but that one over against South Africa made Tendulkar an all-rounder every team would want. Tendulkar who hadn't bowled for the entire match was passed the ball in the 50th over of the South African innings, when Proteas needed six runs to win. In a dramatic outcome, Tendulkar only gave away 3 runs in the over and won the match for India. 1. 2011 World Cup Victory:It was a victory the entire country awaited, but there was none other who savored the victory as much as Sachin Tendulkar. In many interviews since the Indian triumph at the world cup, Sachin has gone on air various times to proclaim it as the most unforgettable moment. When Tendulkar held the trophy and popped the champagne, it became an unforgettable moment. And when the elated teammate carried Tendulkar with the tri-color in his hands for a victory lap, there wasn't a better feeling that any cricket fan could have ever experienced.
